MAIN WINDOW

The Main window appears when the program is launched. It has these components:
       FILE MENU
New 
opens a new file
Delete
opens a file chooser (dialog box) for deleting selected file(s)
Open
opens an existing file
Save
saves the currently loaded file
Save as
saves the currently loaded file with a new name provided by you in the file chooser dialog box 
List View
view a list of the patterns in use
Exit
exits the program
      BASS LINE MENU
Automatic
automatically sets bass lines
Manual
opens the Bass Lines window, where bass lines are manually set
      SOUND MENU
Default
disabled
jMusic (sub-menu):

Javasound
uses javasound from Sun to play the current score
Quicktime
uses quicktime from Apple to play the current score
     FORMATS MENU
Digital Audio (au)
save in digital audio format with an .au extension
jMusic (jm)
save in native jMusic format with a .jm extension
MIDI (mid)
save in MIDI format with a .mid extension
Serial Java (ser)
save in serialized java format with a .ser extension
XML - gui (xml)
save the GUI in XML format with an .xml extension
XML - jm (_jm.xml)
save a jMusic score in XML format with an .xml extension. Distinguished from a GUI / XML file by the addition of "jm" before the extension

Melody button
shows/hides the Melody (Phrases) window
Form button
shows/hides the Forms window
Chords button
shows/hides the Chord Progressions window
Bass button
shows/hides the Bass window
Drums button toggles a 2-bar drum pattern on or off
Play button
plays the composition displayed in the Composition Table
Show button
shows common practice notation for the phrases in the Units Table
Fields Table three rows and four columns of white 1-bar Chord Fields, displaying chords selected for use in the Chord Progressions window
Units Table
three rows and four columns of colored 2-bar Units, displaying forms selected for use in the Form window
Score Title
title of the composition on display in the Composition Table
Phrases
the numbers of the phrases in use in the Form Panes
File Name
name of the current file containing the composition being displayed. This name is normally the same as Score Title except for the addition of a ".ser" extension
